Why Do the Sieve Slots of Arc Screen Get Clogged
The arc screen is a vital piece of paper mill equipment used for coarse screening, white water fiber recovery, thickening, and fiber fractionation. Its biggest advantage is its simple structure, as it has no rotating parts and uses almost no power. However, the arc screen often faces two main problems in the paper making line. The first problem is clogging. The inlet lip can easily trap large particles and fibers, forming hard blockages. Also, long fibers and plastic pieces can get stuck in the screen slots. The second problem is mechanical damage. If the screen plate is worn or broken, impurities will pass through and cause secondary clogging in the downstream paper production line.
To solve these problems for the arc screen, we use advanced upgrades. We replace the traditional lip with a rotating adjustment shaft. This makes the pulp spray at high speed in a tangent direction, removing the wedge area where materials get stuck. The arc screen also uses a wedge-shaped screen slot design that is narrow at the front and wide at the back. This lets fibers pass through smoothly without getting trapped. We also add an online cleaning system with high-pressure water to automatically wash the screen surface. Keeping the feed concentration stable is also very important.
