Paper Machine Dryer Cylinder

Paper machine dryer cylinder

The dryer is a hollow cylinder made of cast iron at both ends and consists of a cylinder block and a cylinder head at both ends, during the operation, the steam will dry the wet paper.

Dryer Cylinder

The cast iron dryer for paper machines is a key component for paper drying – Class I pressure vessels. In order to increase the smoothness of the paper, the outer surface of the dryer is polished and the inner surface is lighted so that the entire drying cylinder wall is kept in the same thickness to ensure that the drying cylinder safety, balance and heat transfer throughout.

The main components of the dryer include: Shell, Dryer bars, Syphon, Shell head, Manhole cover, Bearing, shaft head, Steam joint, etc.

Drying principle

The saturated steam, which is passed from the steam joint, is condensed inside the dryer and the released heat causes the dryer temperature to rise, thereby heating the sheet coated on the surface of the roll shell. The heat is transferred to the paper in contact with the surface of the dryer.

Evaporative heat release produces a large amount of condensate, which is attached to the inner surface of the dryer by the centrifugal force of the dryer, which forms a water ring at higher angular speeds, hindering the transfer of heat to the surface of the dryer. The syphon will drain the condensate in time. In the lower speed will not form a water ring, but there will be condensed water in the dryer splash, accumulation.
